Color Accuracy & Print Variation Policy

Color Accuracy & Print Variation Policy

Black Dog Prints | Summerville, South Carolina

At Black Dog Prints, we take pride in delivering high-quality custom apparel, DTF transfers, embroidery, and other decorated products. We use professional printing equipment, inks, materials, and color management processes to achieve consistent, high-quality results.

However, due to the nature of digital printing and garment decoration, exact color reproduction cannot be guaranteed. By placing an order, customers acknowledge the following conditions.

1. Digital Screens vs. Printed Colors

Colors displayed on computer monitors, mobile devices, and other screens may differ from the finished printed product.

Screen brightness, display calibration, RGB color settings, and differences between digital and physical color reproduction can affect how colors appear.

Black Dog Prints cannot guarantee that printed colors will exactly match colors displayed on a customer's screen.

2. Color Variations Between Production Runs

Slight differences in color, shade, brightness, or saturation may occur between production runs, including repeat orders using identical artwork.

These variations may result from factors including, but not limited to:

  • Printer calibration and individual equipment characteristics

  • Color profiles and printing processes

  • Ink, transfer film, adhesive powder, and other production materials

  • Garment color, fabric composition, and texture

  • Heat press temperatures, pressure, and application conditions

  • Normal environmental and manufacturing variations

Black Dog Prints makes reasonable efforts to maintain consistent color reproduction. However, an exact color match between separate production runs is not guaranteed.

3. Repeat Orders and Color Consistency

Previously printed orders do not constitute a guaranteed color standard for future orders.

Even when identical artwork and comparable production materials are used, slight color differences may occur.

4. Pantone, HEX, RGB, and CMYK Color Matching

Black Dog Prints does not guarantee exact reproduction of Pantone (PMS), HEX, RGB, or CMYK color values unless a specific color-matching arrangement has been discussed and approved in writing.

Certain colors may fall outside the reproducible color range of the printing process.

For projects requiring close brand-color consistency, we recommend physical samples or printed color charts before full production.

5. Customer-Supplied Artwork

Customers are responsible for reviewing their submitted artwork, including colors, resolution, transparency, dimensions, and overall appearance.

Files supplied in different color modes or with embedded color profiles may reproduce differently when processed for printing.

Artwork previews and digital proofs are intended to demonstrate general appearance, placement, and layout. They are not guarantees of exact printed color.

6. DTF Transfers and Application

The final appearance of DTF transfers may vary depending on the garment material, garment color, heat press equipment, temperature, pressure, and application technique.

For transfers applied by customers, Black Dog Prints cannot guarantee the final appearance or durability of transfers applied outside our recommended application instructions.

7. Acceptable Variations and Quality Standards

Minor color and shade variations that are inherent to the printing process and fall within reasonable production tolerances are not considered manufacturing defects.

This policy does not excuse significant printing errors, incorrect artwork, missing design elements, or substantial color discrepancies caused by production mistakes.

Black Dog Prints will review reported concerns individually and determine an appropriate resolution based on the circumstances.

8. Customer Acknowledgment

By submitting an order to Black Dog Prints, customers acknowledge that reasonable color variations may occur between digital artwork, printed products, and separate production runs.

Customers with specific color-matching requirements are responsible for communicating those requirements before production begins.

Black Dog Prints reserves the right to evaluate color-related concerns individually and provide remedies consistent with applicable law and our published policies.
